Setting Apart

President Ken Asay came to set Luke apart, giving him a beautiful blessing. He promised that Luke would become fluent in Japanese. That gave Luke a lot of hope. Looking at his Book of Mormon in Kanji was a bit overwhelming!

Receiving the call

Today, Luke spent most of the day wandering the house, sitting on the front porch, walking to the mailbox. Finally it arrived! Sitting in the living room, he opened the call, read it and got a huge grin on his face. "I'm going to Japan!"
The amazing thing about the call was that Luke has felt for years that he was headed to Japan. He talked about it quite a bit when he was about 11 years old, so when Mom went to Salt Lake that year, she went to the distribution center and bought a Book of Mormon in Japanese so Luke could begin getting familiar with the writing. He still has that book.
